This climb was a custom program on the North Ridge of Mt. Baker, Washington.
Late season conditions made for an exciting climb with an unusual itinerary. Challenging route finding and around 18 pitches of ice and firm snow lead us to climb in a light alpine style and carry over our gear.
We made camp 1 just below the ridge on the glacier and reached camp 2 at the Colfax saddle after a 13 hour summit push.
Attempting this route this time of year is a challenge but provides a worthy reward if your fit enough to enjoy the bare bones of the glacier toe to summit.
Emmons Glacier – July 24
This climb was part of a custom program through Colorado Mountain School.
Climbing with a small group–four climbers and two guides–allows us a high level of customization and the best chance for a successful summit.
With seven days for our approach and climb we have the best chance of getting a good weather window for the summit push and have plenty of time to dial in the skills we need for it.
