Valdez, Alaska
The big-mountain freeride (freemo) paradise. There are not many places on earth where you can access heli ski terrain without the heli. This is one of them.
Program Basics
Located in the renowned heli-ski mecca, the Chugach Mountains, and only 37 miles from Valdez and the Prince William Sound.
While this area is known for its heli-skiing, the access for ski touring is second to none and allows for some enjoyable ridge climbs as well as ski descents.
Generally these programs are going to be at least a week long although I generally suggest nine days. There will be a travel day to and from Anchorage and there is always a chance weather will eat into some of our days.
The sweet spot for conditions is the last week of March until the last week of April.
Day Touring or Glacier Basecamp
The other option is to day trip from town. This means no sleeping in tents and more comfortable camp but less time in the terrain. We can talk about what kind of trip would serve your goals best.
There are options for combinations of the two styles as well.
Mechanized Assisted Options
Mechanized assisted touring and can make the skiing much more enjoyable. Typically when the weather is getting nice in the spring powder does not extend all the way down to the road and there is a fair bit of travel up to the good conditions. With a one time bump from a heli or fixed wing plane you can get a lot more out of the good snow.

Having a good team is key to making these programs exceptional. These programs are best with 3-4 people. If you have a group of 3 or 4 let’s start building a program.
If you are alone or have a group of two get in touch and we can talk about how to best fit you into a program.
Get in touch and we can schedule a zoom call to talk about the details.
What to expect
Once we get a team together we will schedule two zoom calls to build out an itinerary that works for everyone and make sure everyone is prepared for the trip.
