Eldo Insider
Eldorado Canyon has a storied place in western climbing history, but it also has a reputation for being pretty intimidating. Between the old-school grading, complex route-finding, and a very traditional ethic, it’s a venue that often keeps people on the sidelines. But it is also a venue that has a huge variety of multipitch adventure rock climbing at very moderate grades.Â
I think Eldo one of the best places for a newer climber to experience some really cool multipitch adventures so long as you know how to get to and from the right routes!
There are not that many places you can climb 500 feet of 5.5 on all gear anchors with impressive exposure and comfy belay ledges. The Eldo Insider program is meant to make this intimidating, but stellar climbing area more accessible.
Tricky Descents are part of what makes Eldo intimidating; and it’s true that many people do need to get rescued after being benighted trying to find their way off some of the formations. But the nice thing, is there are not many descents that serve a ton of routes. Once you get to know the three main descents it makes the majority of the climbing less intimidating.
On these days, expect to get advice on route selection and linkups. As well as to get to know the common approach and descent routes as we put together a link up of classic pitches that give you a sense of how to get around the canyon.
These days are an opportunity to get to know a complex area as well as get in a bunch of fun pitches and learn from a certified guide.
