Great day out with the brother. We encountered a cloud cap above 9500-ft that made descending the first couple hundred feet exciting. Descending into the clouds on a 1000-foot line with steep exposed terrain and cliffs was exciting to say the least. But the weather cooper-ated and we were able to go lot to lot in only four hours.
If you are tired of walking downhill but still are hooked on exploring the mountains ski touring is probably something you should look into. Ski mountaineering really is on the cutting edge of modern alpinism.
Give me a shout and we can talk about some options for getting started. There is a bit of a learning curve with the new equipment but once you get it figured out there is no better way to explore the mountains.
